Tom Rivkin

Tom Rivkin

Tom is his family’s third generation Operating Partner at Central Building & Preservation. He is responsible for management of all administrative and operational services including customer contact, estimating and job planning and supervision. A past president of the Tuckpointing Contractors Association of Chicago, he has served as an officer of the organization since 1993, and chaired its negotiating committee. He has served as Chairman of Tuckpointers Local 52 Pension Fund since 1994 and continues to chair a number of important fund committees. Tom is a member of the Apartment Building Owners and Managers Association (ABOMA) and the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). He is very active in community service work and is currently serving on multiple boards. Tom has been a member of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) since 2005. He graduated from Duke University and received a Masters of Management from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.

Tom began his employment at Central Building & Preservation in 1979 and became a Partner in 1992. He is responsible for planning, directing and supervising field operations and is expert in complex rigging and in masonry repair and restoration, including brick and terra cotta repair; structural supporting steel restoration; concrete restoration and sealant application and replacement. He has a loyal following of clients who depend upon his analyses and recommendations. Tom serves on the Chicago Committee on High Rise Buildings which advises the City of Chicago on a multitude of issues dealing with high rise structures. Tom graduated from Iowa State University College of Engineering and received a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1974.

Chuck Rivkin

Chuck Rivkin

Chuck served as CEO and Operating Partner of Central Building & Preservation and its predecessor Central Building & Cleaning Co. from 1960 to 2000 and continues to serve as an advisor to the company and as a consultant to its clients. He is involved in performing on-site evaluations and reviews, including on historic structures. Chuck also provides legal analysis and expert testimony in matters involving exterior construction, repair, weatherproofing, masonry restoration and rehabilitation. He has written for trade and industry publications and has served on and chaired key committees of the boards of the Landmarks Preservation Council of Illinois and numerous industry and community service organizations. Chuck earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern University Law School and is a member of the Illinois Bar.

Mark Kuberski

Mark Kuberski

Mark, a licensed Professional Engineer, began his employment at Central in 2000 and became a partner in 2005. As an expert in building materials, structural systems, and design of historic buildings, he has been responsible for such notable projects as the cornice restoration on the landmark Marquette Building and reconstruction of historic Chicago area church bell towers. His current responsibilities include estimating, planning and supervising masonry restoration projects throughout Chicago. He frequently consults with project architects and engineers to solve complex structural and architectural problems associated with deteriorated building facades. Mark received BSCE and MSCE degrees, with Honors, from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He was previously employed by Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates from 1987-2000, where he performed country-wide structural and architectural investigations and evaluations of historic skyscrapers.
